Freshio — Terms of Service, Privacy Policy & Health Disclaimers
Last updated: September 13, 2026
This document governs your use of the Freshio mobile application ("Freshio", "the app", "we", "us"), developed and operated by AON Applications. Please read it before creating an account.
1. Terms of Service
Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or otherwise using Freshio, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Health & Safety Disclaimers below. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the app.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use Freshio. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm you have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to use the app.
Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (including your Google Sign-In session) and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
Intellectual Property
All app code, designs, branding, and features are the property of the developer of Freshio. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute any part of the app except as permitted by applicable law.
User-Submitted Images (Receipts & Food Photos)
You retain ownership of any photo you capture or upload — receipts, pantry items, or meals. By submitting a photo, you grant us a limited license to process, transmit, and store that image solely to provide the scanning, expiration-tracking, and calorie-estimation features of the app, including sending it to the third-party AI vision providers described in the Privacy Policy below.
Service Changes & Uptime
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time, including for maintenance, without liability to you. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, attempted to abuse, exploit, or spam the app or its scanning/rate-limiting systems, or engaged in unlawful conduct.
Limitation of Liability & Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Freshio and its owners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including personal injury, illness, or financial loss — arising from your use of the app, including reliance on AI-estimated expiration dates or nutrition information (see Health & Safety Disclaimers below). You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the app or violation of these Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
2. Privacy Policy
This section discloses what data Freshio collects, why, and how it's handled — required reading before you grant the app camera and notification access.
Data We Collect
- Account data: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile info (email, account identifier) Google provides.
- Camera & media: photos you take of receipts and food — used solely to extract item, price, and nutrition information. We do not access your camera or photo library outside of the scan flows you initiate.
- App data: logged pantry items, expiration dates, calorie/nutrition logs, reminder preferences, and household-sharing links you create.
- Technical data: push notification tokens, used to deliver expiration reminders.
- Device identifier: on Android, we collect your device's Android ID to track free-trial scan usage per device. This exists solely to prevent free-trial abuse (e.g. signing out and creating a new account, or reinstalling the app, to reset a used-up trial) — it is not used for advertising, analytics, or shared with any third party. This identifier is retained even after you delete your account, specifically so a deleted-and-recreated account can't reset a used-up trial on the same device.
- Household sharing: if you link accounts to share a pantry, your email address becomes visible to the linked account (and theirs to you) — pantry items and reminder settings become shared between linked accounts, but your personal onboarding stats (age, weight, dietary preferences, etc.) and calorie/meal logs do not.
How Your Data Is Used
We use your data only to: extract text and food/nutrition information from your photos, track and remind you about expiring pantry items, calculate and display calorie/macro totals, sync shared household pantries if you opt into that feature, and verify your subscription status for premium features.
Third-Party AI & API Processing
When you scan a receipt or meal photo, the image is transmitted to a third-party AI vision provider (currently a Google Gemini model, accessed via OpenRouter) solely to extract item names, prices, quantities, and nutrition estimates. These providers process the image to generate a response and do not use it to train their models on our plan. We do not sell your photos, receipts, or personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
Payments & Subscriptions
Subscription purchases are processed by Google Play's billing system and managed via RevenueCat, which verifies your entitlement status on our behalf. We do not directly receive or store your payment card details.
Data Storage & Encryption
Data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS between the app, our servers, and Supabase (our database provider). Your session is stored encrypted on your device. We take reasonable measures to secure stored data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Data Rights & Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account yourself at any time in the app: go to Profile > Delete Account and confirm. This immediately and irreversibly erases your profile, pantry items, meal/calorie logs, reminder preferences, and scan history. If you no longer have access to the app, you can instead request deletion by emailing auroshrit@gmail.com, and we will process it within a reasonable time. Either way, you may also request a copy of your stored data by emailing that address.
One exception: on Android, your device's Android ID is retained even after account deletion, solely to prevent free-trial abuse (e.g. deleting and recreating an account, or reinstalling the app, to reset a used-up trial). This identifier is not linked to any other personal data once your account is deleted and is not used for advertising or analytics.

3. Health & Safety Disclaimers
A. Food Expiry & AI Vision Disclaimer
Expiration date estimates, reminders, and receipt/item readings are generated by AI vision models and are informational tools only, not absolute facts. AI models can misread text, mistake blurry or damaged labels, or occasionally generate an inaccurate or fabricated reading ("hallucination"). You are solely responsible for visually inspecting, smelling, and checking the physical packaging date of any food before consuming it — never rely on this app as your only safety check. Push notification delivery depends on your device's operating system, battery-saver settings, and network connection, and timely delivery is not guaranteed.
B. Calorie & Health Disclaimer
Calorie, macro, and nutrition figures shown in the app are automated estimates generated by AI for general informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute medical, dietetic, or nutritional advice. Actual nutrition content can vary based on portion size, preparation method, and brand. If you have allergies, a medical condition, or specific dietary needs, consult a physician or registered dietitian before making dietary decisions based on this app.
C. Fasting Tracker Disclaimer
The fasting tracker's elapsed-time display, stage labels (e.g. "ketosis," "autophagy"), and any goal duration you set are general information for tracking purposes only, not medical advice, and not personalized to you. Fasting affects individuals differently, and extended fasts carry real risks. Consult a healthcare professional before beginning any fast, especially an extended one, and particularly if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have diabetes or another metabolic condition, have a history of disordered eating, are underweight, or are taking medication. Stop a fast and seek medical attention if you feel unwell.
